Audience-connect-Logo-loresSampoMedia founders Michael Gubbins and Peter Buckingham will be chairing and speaking at a major UK event in Cardiff next month.

Audience Connect has an ambitious programme, exploring ways that audience demand can be created and nurtured through a better understanding of how audiences today think, behave, and use and consume content.

It will explore ways that the production, distribution and exhibition (in its broadest sense) processes  can capture, learn from and share consumer knowledge.

Gubbins, who is also the chair of the Film Agency for Wales, which is organising the event on April 19, will be jointly chairing the day alongside consultant and manager of the Film London Production Finance Market, Angus Finney.

Buckingham will look at ways that data and metadata created in each interaction with the audience creates value that can help shape what we make and the ways that audiences ‘experience’ work.

Speakers include Lord Puttnam, transmedia pioneer Lance Weiler, Director of BFI Film Fund Ben Roberts, Welsh producer Cat Ramasut (ie ie Productions), Ridley Scott Associates, exhibitor and innovator Mark Cosgrove (Watershed), cross-media producer Peter de Maegd (Potemkino, producer of The Spiral), and Jon Kingsbury, director of innovation body NESTA.

The event will take place in Cardiff’s Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Drinks and buffet receptions will be accompanied by live music and the day will conclude with a special event screening of F.W. Murnau’s Faust, programmed by Chapter Arts Centre..

The Film Agency for Wales is leading this event as part of its commitment to become a major progressive voice in new audience-driven, digital developments in film, media and cross-cultural arts.
